SAMSUNG Accelerate Growth of Mobile WiMAX service in Europe

Samsung demonstrated AWB WiMAX CPEs at WiMAX Forum Global Congress 2009 in Amsterdam
 
Amsterdam, Netherland, June 2nd, 2009: Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a leading provider of Mobile WiMAX technology, today demonstrated various Mobile WiMAX services in 3.5GHz band at WiMAX Forum Global Congress 2009, in Amsterdam, Netherland, taking one step closer to European service providers and customers. Samsung will showcase AWB (Accton Wireless Broadband) new WiMAX product portolios.
 
At today’s demonstration, Samsung used its 3.5GHz U-RAS Flexible base station which received the world’s first WiMAX Forum Certification in January 2009. It was provided to LRTC, Lithuania’s broadcasting service provider, for Mobile WiMAX 4G Internet service. LRTC has launched commercial service MEZON in early March.
 
Samsung made this demonstration more meaningful by inviting outstanding Mobile WiMAX device vendors, Myungmin Systems in Korea and AcctonWireless Broadband Corp. (AWB) in Taiwan. Myungmin Systems and AcctonWireless Broadband Corp. (AWB) unveiled outdoor and indoor CPE(Customer Promise Equipment), USB dongle and PC card type devices. Samsung and two partners showed perfect interoperability between Samsung’s Mobile WiMAX system equipment and partners’ Mobile WiMAX devices.  
 
One of the most fascinating service, Multimedia Conference service, which is converged service in voice, video and multimedia, VoD streaming, and personal broadcasting service as well as Internet access service which are demonstrated Live in 3.5GHz band gripped the congress.
 
Woonsub Kim, Executive Vice President and head of Telecommunication Systems Division of Samsung Electronics, said, “WiMAX industy’s well-constructed ecosystem is strongly supporting to expand Mobile WiMAX service worldwide. And I’m very excited that Samsung creates revolutionary change in communication services with many industry partners, as a leading provider.” “We will make great efforts to spread Mobile WiMAX service to every corner of Europe using our market and technology leadership” he added.
